Investment Management

Our investment management process is focused on the following:
• We Develop a Formal Plan and Investment Policy Statement
• We Implement the Plan
• We Evaluate the Portfolios Performance

Develop
We work with you to develop a formal investment strategy consistent with the goals and objectives defined in your financial plan. We do not recommend the same portfolio for each client. Instead, we take each of your unique circumstances and considerations into account. We then develop an investment policy for deploying your assets among multiple asset classes (e.g. domestic and foreign stocks, growth and value stocks, large-cap and small-cap stocks, real estate, various alternative investments and intermediate and short-term bonds) This written investment policy provides the framework for all future investment decisions.

Implement
We precisely design every portfolio with an eye towards cost control, tax efficiency, and risk management. We select investments and allocate funds with strict adherence to your investment policy.

We consider every investment category, and make cost-effective use of non-traditional investments (commodities, real estate, etc.) to ensure that our clients are optimally diversified. Through this process we deploy an "efficient portfolio" - one which has the highest expected return for a given level of risk.

Evaluate
We continually evaluate your investment portfolio to ensure that it remains aligned with your investment policy and financial plan. In addition to monthly account statements, our comprehensive quarterly performance report helps you gauge the progress of your plan and the value each specific component is adding to your investment portfolio. We compare your portfolio's performance to a relevant blended benchmark. This will help you see how your relationship with Echelon is adding value over time.

We also review your financial circumstances:
• Have your objectives changed?
• Is your current asset allocation still appropriate?
• Is your portfolio meeting your long-term goals?

Our aim is to keep your financial plan in focus to help you resist the emotional urge to make reactive changes that could damage your portfolio's long-term performance.
